“If you don’t have a place at the dinner table, you’re most - TopicsExpress

“If you don’t have a place at the dinner table, you’re most likely on the menu.” Gay culture is designed in such a way that if you’re not the life of the party, you will most likely be the one less remembered. I could love myself all I want, but if I didn’t know what my worth was I’d be stuck in the mud forever. I’m worth more than staying in bed all day too sad to show my face to the world. I’m worth more than pushing my boyfriend away because I’m scared of what I might feel. I’m worth more than countless hours of self-loathing, guilt, assumptions, paranoia, and jealousy. I’m me and that’s the only thing I’ll ever be so I might as well go against the grain and march to the beat of my own song. But every day is a struggle to keep our smiles, but at the end of the day it’s the pretending that takes away our dignity. Pretending to be happy only to gain the approval of others. We suppress our feelings instead of investigating them, peeling them away like an onion so that we can see the genesis of our depression.
