“If you think you are too important to help…you are only - TopicsExpress

“If you think you are too important to help…you are only fooling yourself.” Gal 6:3 Following in the footsteps of Jesus calls for being service-oriented, not self-absorbed. Often the reason we don’t volunteer is because we think we can’t do it as well as somebody else. We’ve think we have to be the very best right off the bat, or we will not do it at all, see if this sounds familiar…”If I can’t do it right, then I will not do it at all!” Thomas Edison tried 1,000 times before successfully inventing the light bulb. When asked by a reporter how it felt to fail 1,000 times, he replied, “I didn’t fail, the light bulb was just an invention with 1,000 steps.” The fact is trying and failing in service is better than not trying at all. If you’re not willing to even try to help someone, than you will never begin to know the blessing of completing the task of selfless service and unconditional love. Almost everything is done poorly at first. That’s how we perfect what we do. God could have sent Jesus as a full grown man, born of nobility, performed miracles and dominated our minds in order to follow him and love him. But would that have been love? No. instead he came lowly, in the form of His imperfect creation, and utilizes ordinary humanity to do extraordinary acts of selfless love. We make mistakes, but we also make a difference. Love you ALL! PD
