♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ Im Taking a Little Time Right Now to let the inspiring music of Andrae Crouch Take Me Back to a time when I and my fellow Edifiers spent many, many, many hours listening to his music, practicing it, and singing it in churches throughout the West Virginia & East Tennessee Council and other venues. Im sure that My Tribute to Andrae Crouch on the day of his passing is not unusual. I Dont Know Why I and others often allow ourselves to forget just how many great songs artists like Andrae Crouch wrote and performed, until they are no longer with us. However, as I spend time tonight in prayerful reflection, with a playlist of Andrae Crouch songs ministering to my Spirit, I have been reminded that the music of Andrae Crouch has been the soundtrack for many meaningful periods throughout my life. Andrae Crouchs songs were well over more than 50 percent of the songs that I and the other Edifiers sang. His songs were popular songs sung by other choirs in which I sang, such as The Apostolic Heralds in Gary, WV and The Youth for Christ Choir in Washington, DC. It was the songs of Andrae Crouch that I first tried to stumble through when learning to play the saxophone as a teenager. When I got married in 1988, the 32 bridemaids and groomsmen became a choir when they blended their voices together to sing a song that my wife Teri and I requested during the ceremony. They backed up my sister Kathy who beautifully led them in singing Crouchs To God Be the Glory (My Tribute). When my Mother was dealing with the debilitating impact of a stroke on her memory in 2006-2007, it was often difficult for her to recall many things. However, when we sang the old church songs together, including many Andrae Crouch songs--such as The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power--she remembered just about every word and joyfully sang along. There were other ways that Andrae Crouchs music influenced my life that I did not know until reading an article about his death and life. For instance, I didnt know until today that he helped Michael Jackson arrange Man in the Mirror, but it helps me understand why Man in the Mirror came to be one of my favorite songs. I didnt know that he helped arrange songs for The Color Purple and Lion King, but it helps explain the power of the music in those films. Soon And Very Soon, well see him and enjoy his music again. Let the Church Say Amen. I hope you will take a moment to watch the embedded video. You will hear Andrae Crouch share his testimony about how God brought him and his family Through it All and blessed him with the gift of music. May it touch your heart and spirit and be a blessing in your life, as it has mine. ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫
