(Im away from Facebook for a while, heading to Detroit where it certainly is no place for a Texan to be during the winter...) Just a glimpse of the El Paso Paul Kayser on its maiden voyage and first delivery of LNG. I was lucky to have worked for the El Paso Company and to document this arrival when this massive ship came out of the sea. The ship (and Mr. Kayser) were amazing. My dad used to fly Mr. Kayser long ago on the various jets based in El Paso and one of my favorite stories my dad shared with me is that when ever Mr. Kayser had a trip, he would drive his own car to the hanger in El Paso (on the west side of the airport) and employees knew about when Mr. Kayser would arrive (they kept an eye open for him) and as he pulled in, my dad always tried to unload Mr. Kaysers luggage (memory seems to come back that Mr. Kayser traveled with one suitcase and a rather large briefcase). My dad would try to help Mr. Kayser (who was a small fella) and lift his bags out of the trunk of his car so he could personally load the bags into the plane for him. Mr Kayser wouldnt let him and said Thanks, Roy but I can get this, you just fly the plane.. I think that went on for years as long as Mr. Kayser had a trip when my dad was the pilot... he always carried his own load. What a guy he was and what a massive and beautiful ship the El Paso Paul Kayser was. My video has some more information about this ship and I hope you have a chance to watch it. I first saw the ship as it was coming into Elba Island and then about a year later, very sadly I saw the El Paso Paul Kayser again in berth at Newport, Rhode Island, waiting to be sold for scrap. It nearly made me cry. https://youtube/watch?v=KOBOUX1ypEk
