【Impoliteness of President Obama to Japanese Emperor】 The President Obama bowed to Emperor Akihito in 2009 (Photo Left) but he did not so this time (Photo Right). The International Protocol prescribes the rating of VIPs as follows: (First Rating) Japanese Emperor, Pope (Second Rating) King, Queen (Third Rating) President (Fourth Rating) Prime Minister Queen Elizabeth always bows deeply to the emperor and sits at the seat below the emperor. When Queen Elizabeth firstly met Hirohito, the Emperor Shōwa, she said “I was too much tense and my feet shook.” In 2009 the President Obama, during his November 2009 visit to Japan, was accused of bowing too deeply to the emperor and criticized by U.S. medias for being obsequious. He made the nearly 90-degree bow as Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko greeted him at the entrance to the palace. Fformer Vice President Dick Cheney said that “there is no reason for an American president to bow to anyone.” This is totally ridiculous. The protocol is NOT politics. The Protocol does not have relations with Politics at all. There is no winner nor loser under the International Protocols. The President and U.S. medias proved themselves as they are unsophisticated and rustic people who are not familiar with the International Protocol.
