**Important Shelter Information** Brutally cold temperatures are projected early next week in the wake of the winter clipper projected by the National Weather Service. Lows Tuesday morning may be colder than Jan 6th and could range from 15 to 23 below zero with wind chills of 35 to 45 below. This weather will meet the wind chill warning criteria and require the appropriate precautions. With that in mind, in coordination with the Rock County Emergency Management Office and The American Red Cross, St. John’s Lutheran Church on 1000 Bluff St. Beloit, will operate as a warming shelter on: Sunday January 26 - 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM Monday January 27 -7:00 PM to 8:00 AM (additional days may be added) This warming shelter is staffed entirely by volunteers and is resourced by donations and St. John’s Lutheran Church. We are currently in need of prepared meals or overnight volunteer staff to work between 10:30 PM and 6:30 AM (teams of two). If you are able to volunteer to stay the night or provide food items please contact St. John’s at (608)490-0548 or (608)362-8595. This temporary warming shelter provides a safe warm location for men, women or families to visit or stay at when temperatures become extreme. Individuals who utilize this shelter are either homeless, have limited shelter, limited access to heat or are displaced because of equipment malfunction or source interruption. Please share this with others as we attempt to provide a safe environment for those who need it while this region continues to experience such varied temperatures. Thank you.
