"In 2005, the head of TATT, Dr Ralph Henry, compared Trini talk radio to Rwanda’s and Burundi’s before their explosions of terror. The media and press establishment abetted talk radio by draping it in press freedom. But from the time it came on the air in the late 1990s, talk radio spewed an incredible amount of racial and class hatred into the national atmosphere. And thus what would be called hate speech in other countries entered the discourse of schoolchildren, store clerks, and housewives here. Culture did its part.
