©In my line of work I get a chance to meet with a lot of people from a lot of places. I guess that’s what makes the work so interesting. One day I might be working with a client in Maine, another day I’ll be emailing a team of entrepreneurs all the way in South Africa. One day I might be in a coffee shop in downtown Dallas meeting with a client face to face and then a couple of hours later, I’ll be on a Skype call with a startup in Detroit…there’s never a dull moment. While I have a set price list from time to time in order to get the business I’ll have to negotiate. Negotiating usually means coming off the price a few dollars here or there before settling. It’s the funniest thing but when it comes time to pay, everyone feels the need to remind me that since they are in business for themselves they can’t pay full price. I had one such client last week. We had our introductory meeting via Skype as their company is headquartered in South Africa. The meeting went well and I was able to immediately grasp their concept and give them a level of confidence that I would be able to produce the type of project they were looking for. They wanted it all; research from a South African and global perspective, 5 year financial projections, a marketing plan, biographies for every member of the team and a whole host of other pieces. They were so sure of themselves, bold, big, bad and ready…until it came time to pay the price. I quoted them a price and before I could get it out of my mouth, they started reminding me of their being a small business with limited funds and this in turn limited their ability to pay. So I listened and calmly said, “I don’t understand you guys.” They said, “What do you mean?” I said, “You want it all…but you’re not willing to pay the price”… *** Hey how many times have you wanted something above and beyond the ordinary? You know that something, whatever it is, that you’ve been dreaming of and on for quite some time. Who amongst us hasn’t but the reason why so many of us continue to fall short is because we aren’t willing…to pay the price… You want it all including the body…but you don’t want the diet and workout routine… You want it all including that ideal career…but you don’t want the discipline that having one demands… You want it all including that a relationship with a special him or her…but instead of focusing on that special him or her you keep chasing after his and hers… Friend “all”, whatever or whoever it may be, “all” is out there waiting on you; it really is, but remember if you want it all, really want it all…you got to be willing to pay the price…
