*** Increasing concern for winter storm late in the week *** A potential winter storm looms toward the end of the week. The computer models meteorologists use have been advertising this to some degree for a week now...but the latest trends among all of the models is to not keep the system along the Gulf Coast or southeast states...but to bring it further north. Depending on the amount of cold air in place at the time...this could mean a greater potential for snow across our region Friday into Saturday. Please stay tuned as there remain many uncertainties regarding the exact track of this weather system and depth of the cold air that will be in place at the time. If you are planning to travel throughout the mid-Atlantic region Friday into the upcoming weekend...you will definitely want to remain abreast of the latest forecasts! In the interim...weak disturbances tracking mainly across the northern states will bring scattered rain and/or snow showers to the I-64 corridor late tonight and early Wednesday and again Thursday. Most of the accumulating snow with these systems is expected to remain north of our forecast area...hence well north of the I-64 corridor. Temperatures will remain mild today...but begin to trend back to seasonal or even below normal levels late in the week. Still...nothing of the magnitude of cold we saw week before last and early last week.
