#India to restore #fuel subsidy to #Bhutan #AssamTribuneOnline. #NEWDELHI, July 15 – India on Monday hinted at the possibility of restoring subsidy on kerosene and LPG to Bhutan that was withdrawn from this month, after consultation with the new Government in the neighbouring country. Briefing newsmen, official spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs Syed Akbaruddin said that India looked forward to engaging with Bhutan on the issue of kerosene and cooking gas subsidy. There were no political intentions linked to the move to cut it off, he said. Akbaruddin clarified that the issue of subsidy relates to delivery mechanism of India’s development partnership with Bhutan. “It has no political intentions,” he said. He said India did not intend to adversely impact in any manner the people of Bhutan. Akbaruddin said India looked forward to engaging with Bhutan on the issue of subsidy cut-off “as soon as possible.” India had cut off the kerosene and cooking gas subsidy to Bhutan as the 10th Plan, under which India was providing such assistance, expired on June 30.
