“Indian Railways is the steel framework of India as well as its developmental and strategic asset” says Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Home Affairs. Ministry of Railways organised a conference of all State and UT heads of police at Vigyan Bhavan today to discuss and bring in a solution to issues involving security over railways. Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Home affairs, Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of State/Railways, Shri Manoj Sinha and Minister of State for Home Affairs addressed the gathering. Shri Suresh Prabhu emphasised on the need for seamless policing as todays’s turbulent times have led to an increase in crime and law and order problems over Railways. Shri Prabhu urged the HM to consider bringing in the concept of ‘Mahila Vahini’, a force comprising of women, for the security of women.
