**** Individual Adoptions Sought - No Negative Comments, Please **** The road for Emily & Zoey has been a long and bumpy one since they first arrived here in Jacksonville. They went from living on the street to being in a local Animal Services kennel to living in a motel and finally to foster care in search of a forever home. Through it all, lives, routines and homes have been disrupted by these two sweet souls. Thousands of people have seen their story and most have been touched by their plight. Though they are truly good girls, they have issues like any and all of us do. Emily has alpha issues that create disharmony in the foster homes. Tyler and Dakota both went to the Rainbow Bridge without having truly peaceful end of life stories because their people were trying to do the best thing for two strangers. Maggie, who is the most docile and non confrontational Lab youd ever want to meet, is so scared in her own home, she is hiding and shaking because Emily wants to dominate her. This, even though Maggie tries to avoid any interaction. We are distraught and heartbroken, as we do not want to have another of our own dogs pass (Maggie is 13 and reaching the latter stages of her life) while being in fear and distress. It is not fair to her or to any of us who have taken on this burden more than 9 months ago. For more than 9 months we have tried EVERYTHING imaginable to find them their own family. Newspaper and local TV news stories, magazine spots, professional photographer photo shoots, marketing them to every pet and dog agency and advocacy group who would listen and we even came close to them being on a national adoption special on TV. Not to mention having all of you share them and help build their following to over 1,250 fans. To date, nothing has worked and this effort is taking a major toll on all involved. We cannot continue on like this and a solution has to be reached in the near future. To that end, we have considered reaching out to the homeless couple, who have reportedly stabilized their living situation with family. Since the girls came to us because of a lack of stability in their lives, we hope to avoid that option. However, to do so, we are now officially offering Emily or Zoey for individual adoption. Please share this with anyone you know who is considering adding a dog to the family or who may have contacts who are. We hate that it has come to this, as we feel that we have failed to some extent and it is tearing us up inside.
