(Inspired by some of our current & former kids) I watched a kid - TopicsExpress

(Inspired by some of our current & former kids) I watched a kid train tonight. He designed his own workout, I was just there to get a little workout in myself while making sure no one did anything too crazy to get hurt. He did the same thing that he did this time last year; being that he brought an unsustainable amount of effort...grind to this one workout. Last November he brought that same effort to his first workouts & I thought That was great, but lets see how long & how often he can do it. His training ended in August & I cannot place my finger on a time he let up or gave in. I have not seen a kid work like this kid works, consistently. Some have come close, but Id say this one is THE measuring stick of effort at this point. In relation to Vargo Trained, what makes the workouts & long-term plans for our athlete work is the effort of each individual in workouts as well as following meal, sleep, nutrition & recovery plans. If they dont bring it regularly then what we write is pretty much useless. Being with us is not magical; it is the effort given & passed on to others within a group. The results come from our athletes getting the most of what we design which encourages/challenges us to write something better for them or adjust their plan to achieve at a higher level. I believe that somehow we have gotten the attention of these types of people & they are choosing to train with us over other places, which only increases our success. Im not sure why those with this mentality choose to train with us, but I would not have it any other way & I hope it stays this way. Although being a better athlete is more about developing skills rather than training like a wild-man for any given workout, the lack of that mentality seems to be a limiting factor with most athletes. When these rare ones come around, it leaves me confident that the athlete will be successful in life no matter what happens in their athletic career. They are tenacious, they will make whatever they desire happen. In these 10 or so years, I have come across a handful of these special people that I truly believe I could accomplish anything with. Whether it were to land on the moon or find a cure for cancer, there are a few former or current athletes that I think I could do anything with, because they are wired to achieve no matter their circumstances or what others think should be. They dont hear cant, they block out pain/failure & have something within them I havent quite been able to nail down. Although they may not be blessed with the genetic base to make it to the higher levels of collegiate/professional athletics, they have a drive/work ethic that leaves very few things in this life unattainable. So I wanted to share this to give you hope in our younger generation. We see a very small sample, but within that sample is a special group of self-motivated, no-excuse accepting, focused teenagers. I hope their character in sport/training carries over to their careers and lives. In regards to the kid tonight, Im going to continue to give him my best effort in program planning; but Im also going to sit back with some popcorn & watch amazing unfold. #vargotrained #getonourlevel https://youtube/watch?v=LCYl4Ir70LQ
