** International Missing ** - Sad update...:( Students in Durham were confused, angry and sad after the discovery of a body in the river Wear, one of them said yesterday. Durham University law student Euan Coulthard, 19, from Nottingham, went missing on a night out on Wednesday last week. A body was recovered from the Wear in the city centre after it was spotted yesterday morning. A Durham police spokeswoman said: “A formal identification is yet to take place, however Euan’s family have been informed of the developments.” In the past 15 months Durham undergraduates Sope Peters and Luke Pearce have drowned in the Wear following nights out. The deaths led to a petition calling for safety improvements along the riverside. Undergraduate Charles Capel, 20, said: “The student feeling is very much one of confusion as well as to some extent anger and obviously angst and melancholy.” Speaking about the other river deaths, he said: “I think the first time was a tragic accident, the second time was a little bit suspicious and the third time is beyond coincidence. I think feelings are turning to how can we solve the issue.” He said students should be educated about the dangers of visiting the river at night and that there should be “better lighting or CCTV images to shed some light on these incidents when they happen”. Capel, a second-year-student, also suggested gates to prevent night time access to the riverbank and a greater police presence.
