[Interrupting FB break.] Regarding the celebrity photo hacks. Ive been reading some reliable computer/security industry and Mac/Apple journalists over the last 48 hours and there a few points that may get missed by some of the sloppier headlines. They are: 1.) Apple servers were not breached directly, like Target and so many others. It just didnt happen. 2.) Select individual famous people with weak passwords or guessable security questions were hacked, just like Sarah Plain on Yahoo, or Paris Hilton and Scarlett Johansson on their accounts in the recent past. A number of those celebs happened to be using iCloud and other services for their backups. Either the weak passwords were guessed by brute force dictionary programs, trying over and over again, or socially engineered (tricking people), or the security questions for acquiring a new password were really dumb. These celebs would likely have been hacked on another platform as well. 3.) By using strong passwords, using upper and lowercase letters, and symbols, combined with the *2-step authentication* I wrote about on August 10th (see link below), the info so far says they would not have been hacked at all. 2-step authentication requires the hacker to not only crack the password, but have physical possession of your cell phone (where a text message arrives with a second needed number) or there is no access to the account. Any of you can set up 2-step authentication on most of the cloud based services today. The info is on each companys website. In the comments Ill link to an article on how to do it with iCloud. https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=10152440790208521&set=a.63747338520.61431.788193520&type=1
