“Is not Calno like Carchemish, or Hamath like Arpad, or Samaria like Damascus? “As my hand has reached to the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria, shall I not do to Jerusalem and her images just as I have done to Samaria and her idols?” (Isaiah 10:9-11) Those who partake of idolatry are all around; they encircle the faithful. If the Lord punishes those who rebel against Him and participate in idolatry, should not, if He is just, also punish those who say they are faithful, but equally participate in idolatry? The Lord is just and His desire for those whom He created to come to Him has not changed. The Lord is never mocked. Lord, help me to see that all around me there is idolatry, the worship of things, rather than the worship of You, the Creator of all things. Help me see clearly how things have not changed, only the mantra of those who despise You (and even this is no change, for it has the same purpose). Guide me into simple and humble submission to Your will and Your way, knowing that You alone are to be worshiped. Thank You Lord for coming along and rescuing me from this present death of sin. Help me repent of my own sin, where I have worshiped false gods, and come to You, the One True God. Guide me this day into Your holiness and lead me according to Your perfect righteousness that I may hold fast to the truth You have revealed through my Savior, Jesus. May I learn to be faithful this day. Amen
