“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. Isaiah 56:6-9 (NIV) We are to consider the blessings of consecration of God, so richly promised to the godly remnant of Israel, as we have seen, will be open to all classes of people. The church may obtain a better name than of sons and daughters; strangers, of spiritual character, will be equally accepted with Israelites. God’s temple shall be indeed a house of prayer for all nations and God will gather many Gentiles to His re-gathering of Israel. Unlike a lot of people think, our behavior as believers in Jesus Christ matters. We are to care for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are hurting, wounded, and needing spiritual encouragement. So often may “believers” are only looking out for themselves. As Christians we are to mature and become useful and helpful to those around us. We should not always be seeing what we can get and forget others. I have heard and seen both pastors and lay people who feel they should only associate with those who can take them to a higher level. It is not the size of church or your position in the church that makes us valuable to God. It is being in His will and doing what He wants. What are you focusing on?
