‘Israel benefits KSA support for Egypt’ Tue, 11 Mar 2014 17:18:00 GMT Saudi Arabia is endorsing the illegal coup détat in Egypt to serve the interests of the Israeli regime, a political analyst tells Press TV. “Contrary to the old politics of the Saudi regime, which used to be more wise and careful, recently we have seen this shift when the kingdom rushed to support the illegal coup détat in Egypt last June and that led to changing the balance in the area and bringing many elements of instability,” Fareed Shayyal, an Islamic Studies expert, said. “And I think the only benefactor from that is Israel because there is a major plan now in preparation to bring the so-called final solution to the Palestinian problem in which they will finish completely - I mean by “they” the United States and its allies - they try to eliminate the Palestinian quest and give everything to Israel on a plate,” he added. The commentator said he believed that the materialization of the plan required that major powers in the Middle East, such as Egypt, to be eliminated or at least crippled to prevent any resistance. Shayyal noted that “the Islamic or political Islam” is the other major player as it was the candidate to foil such a plan and to carry on with its belief, basics and principles to reject Zionism and its hegemony over the region. The analyst’s comments came after Egypts anti-coup alliance, also known as the National Coalition to Support Legitimacy, demanded Saudi Arabia on Monday to stop endorsing interim leaders in Cairo and respect the will of the Egyptian people. In a statement, the alliance led by the Muslim Brotherhood denounced the Saudi Arabian regime’s support of “the bloody, treacherous coup.” Riyadh has openly supported Egypt’s military-backed authorities who came to power following president Mohamed Morsi’s ouster. Anti-government demonstrators have been holding rallies almost on a daily basis, since the army toppled Morsi. The demonstrators demand that Morsi be reinstated.
