“It is an experience of evil God has given to the sons of humanity to humble them by it.” (Ecclesiastes 1:13) So there you have it. Why bad things happen. It is to humble us. Most of humanity has never heard about God much less the gospel. They die never understanding why they lived in the first place, especially with all the evil around them or in some cases caused by them. The Bible says that all will be resurrected, both the just and the unjust. (Acts 24:15) So what happens when the “just and the unjust” get resurrected? Well those few of us who during this life have heard the gospel and have been given faith to believe God are the "just". When we are resurrected we go to the “Judgment seat of Christ” to give account to God for what we have done, whether good or bad. After that we go to Heaven (so to speak – much more to it than that). Those who die "unjust" are resurrected and go to the “Great White Throne judgment” where they are introduced to the judge, Jesus, the Savior of the world. There every knee bows and every tongue confesses Jesus is Lord. Then they too will be judged for things they have done, whether good or bad. After that they too go to Heaven eventually (again-much more to it then that). Most churches teach that after death it is too late to get saved. However they just made that up because the Bible does not say that anywhere. The Bible simply says that it is “appointed unto men once to die and after that the judgment’. The only difference between the just and unjust is WHEN they believe God and confess that Jesus is Lord. A very few of us have the privilege to do so in this life. All others will have that opportunity after their resurrection and during the judgment process. The result is the same. We all get judged, chastened, saved and changed into the image of God, full of love, grace and mercy. But what about the cross and the blood of Jesus which was shed there for sinners? That is the focal point of everything in the Bible. All have sinned and are going to die which is the penalty for sin. God could have just left us dead and started over with Jesus, the “second Adam”, similar to what he did with the flood in Noah’s day. But His very nature is LOVE and that love does not allow Him to lose any of His creation eternally. So to give us hope and assure us that he will save sinners from death Jesus came to identify himself with sinners and die with them. Here is how Paul puts it: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture, was buried, and was resurrected… according to Scripture” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) “….we are convinced that one died for all.….All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them…He made him who had no sin to be sin for us….” (2 Corinthians 5:14-21) “...now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13) And now I know the rest of the story! It is Good News and God wins ALL!
