** It is really nice to share a positive story for a single parent family. Lets help share her victories and please know that it is coming from a place encouragement I have debated with myself whether to post on here or not. I read often but never post. I don’t want be seen as “gloating” or judged for not doing it as tough as others. BUT, while my heart goes out to all those that are struggling, it’s heartbreaking reading some stories, I wanted to put a positive one out there. Maybe others will do the same? I love reading the happy ones. I plan, I’m organised, I budget and I guess I’m lucky to still be on PPS, not Newstart. I’m a single mum to a 4 year old, I’m on PPS, receive rent assistance and FTB, I have my own little online business so I’m lucky enough to work from home (that probably brings in the equivalent to working 2.5 day a week, so part time $, by no means is it big bucks but it really helps) I pay rent, phone, internet, contents and car insurance, kindy fees, car payment, fuel, food (groceries for my daughter and Lite n Easy full package for me) gas and electricity. Every single bill (except car rego) is paid fortnightly, in advance and by direct debit (I REALLY recommend doing this!!!) When I receive a monthly or quarterly bill it either has a 0 balance or a small credit. I have a perfect rental record and credit history. We have ample luxuries, nice furniture, appliances, clothes etc. Anything left over is saved, any $ from a little extra work is saved and any child support (which is EXTREMELY sporadic so never in my budget) is saved. I don’t really know the point of my post, I just wanted others to know that it can be done, give hope Budget, work hard, be organised, it helps so much. I’m VERY lucky to have found something I love doing that can bring in a little $$ to help us. I have 3.5 years before my daughter turns 8, I’m really hoping by then I have built my little business enough that I can tell CL to stick their NS!!
