“Ive learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou This afternoon, Pops took that final leap of faith into Gods arms. We were so fortunate to have had the chance to show him just how much he is loved before passing. Personally, I seized every opportunity to do just that. The one-on-one moments he and I shared will forever remain sacred in my heart. The feeling that overcame my soul each and every time I walked into the room, greeted by his smile and smart ass comments, couldnt possibly be put into words. As I sit here reflecting on the past weeks events, one thing stands out the most. That one thing is the enormous amount of strength and support that I received from a source never considered. It was necessary that I be strong for Pops at all times. I found this to be quite a struggle the more his health declined in front of our eyes. Pops didnt. He never once complained. He was always so polite and considerate of his visitors and staff, even on his worst of worse days. He was my inspiration to find the strength and courage to help him along his journey. But now that I think about, I didnt find it, it found me. The source? My Kendall. My sweet and caring 10 year old daughter, who has never faced the death of a loved one, guided me every step of the way. She was and continues to be a pillar of strength. She refused to let the sadness take control and instead found the positive and uplifting outcome in this dire situation. Even after hearing the news of Pops passing, she kept her head held high and comforted her sisters and I as we all cried together. Im happy for Pops, Mom. He isnt suffering anymore. He found Uncle Chris on his way to Heaven and they are going to have so much fun together! These are the same words I have spoken to the girls to ease their minds. As she is saying them to me, I see the look of serenity in her eyes. That same look Ive seen from Pops recently. It was that moment I realized how much Kendalls behavior and actions over the past week is what truly made my time with Pops the most memorable week of my life. Thank you, Kendall. I have never been more proud of you. I know Pops is too. Id like to thank all of my friends for the prayers and support as well. I am very well blessed to have you all. You will be greatly missed, Pops. Until we meet again, Old Man. XOXO
