JEANNETTE, PA: TEMP FOSTER HOME (POSSIBLY UP TO 1 WK.) NEEDED IMMEDIATELY FOR WONDERFUL SR. FAMILY DOG CONTACT: Dee [email protected] I need to place my 11 yr old Lab, Baby, in temp foster home for up to one week. A.S.A.P. If I cant find a home for her, Ill be forced to put her down. I had to relocate and couldnt keep her with me, I love her so very much and this was a difficult thing for me to do, but I had no other choice. Now its getting so much worse with the thought of having to put such a great animal down! Shes such a sweet sweet girl who still has many good years left. Shes housebroken, spayed, friendly, and gets along with every type of animal. She has had a temporary home, but the very nice person who was keeping her has asked that I make other arrangements, one way or another the dogs got to go. The woman already owns several dogs and only took her on a temporary basis so that Id have a chance to try to place her-but times up. Ive spent the last two days crying, trying to figure out what else to do-all the no kill shelters are full. Im on the waiting lists but no room yet- the open door shelters seem to think it would be better for the dog to be put to sleep rather than to experience the stress of living in a shelter. Ultimately if shes not adopted thats the fate she face anyway they tell me, the older dogs are not readily adopted they say. Shes good with kids. When I got her I had 14, 12, and 2 year olds in the home. A year after I got her, I had my youngest so shes fine with everyone. PLEASE--if you have room in your heart and home - Please contact me. Thanks! MORE INFO: Baby is about 11 1/2, shes spayed, blind in one eye (from an accident when she was a puppy). That has never seemed to be a big issue for her- I do believe that she can still see shadows because shell react if approached from that side. She has no health problems that I know of- hasnt ever had any issues other than the eye thing. She doesnt seem to be too crazy about water the way Labs usually are- shell go in, but doesnt want to go all in and actually swim. Kinda quirky right?. :-) She gets along with all types of animals. She used to play with the bunny when she was out of the cage. Lick her, cuddle right up to her (when the bunny allowed her to) and everything. She thought the bunny was her puppy or something. Again, weird for a Lab I thought. Thats just our baby- never hurt a fly. Shes so much more than just a dog shes like an old soul. I know thats kinda goofy to say about a dog, but thats what I feel. She even sniffed out our lost hamster for us once! Yep- when the hamster went missing we locked the dog up because we thought if she found it that shed eat it. When we had no luck finding him I told the girls that Baby has such a great nose that we should see if shed find it, otherwise the poor little thing is going to die. So-Within five minutes she showed us right where to look! When we ( the dog & me) were younger I even considered training her as a search dog because she could always find anything. We have had many different animals and shes never been aggressive towards anyone or anything. She is in a place right now with 12 other dogs. The woman breeds morkies and is doing very well, they all have the run of the house. Its just that she only agreed to keep her temporarily. Shes housebroken, does very well even if left alone for a while. Shes never been the kind of dog to chew everything up. The only thing that she has done in the past is every single time Id buy a bed for her-shed pee on it! I have no idea why! I just stopped buying her beds-apparently she prefers the floor. Haha.
