‘JK needs improvement not extension of administration’ Salman ready to work with Omar 2/3/2014 12:09:44 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 2: Salman Anees Soz seems dismayed over the creation of new administrative units row. Talking to Early Times, he refused to comment saying everything is there on my face book page. However, he made clear that the posts on the face book were his personal views. The views have nothing to do with the Congress party or the coalition government, he said. On January 28, he expressed willingness to work with the Chief Minister (if he so wished) to come up with a proposal to help Jammu Kashmir governance become effective for years to come. Let 2014 not dictate our future course. We can do a lot better for people of J&K. After some very difficult years, J&K deserves well thought out ideas and terrific execution and, above all, a 21st century approach to governance, he said. But yesterday the young Soz posted the following comment. I have already expressed my reservations about expanding the government without first doing all we can to substantially improve the administration we already have. My suggestion to the Chief Minister and the Cabinet would be to do what is in the best interests of the people of J&K. In my opinion, that would be a comprehensive review of the need for these new units through the prism of how a 21st century government should look like. The temptation to distribute new administrative units like candy in an election year is great. I dont really know if this is going to be an election winner but I believe this will be a loser for the people of this State in the years to come. Commenting on Omar Abdullahs threat of submitting his resignation, he said: This is not an issue over which anyone should think of resigning. Frankly, in this governments term, there have been other, far more serious events that could legitimately be a cause for the governments resignation. Lets pray that better sense prevails and our political leadership does not sacrifice our long-term interests for potential short-term gains. Salman also differs with Congress and National Conference on NOTA option. In one of his posts, he stood for extending the NOTA option to the state of Jammu Kashmir. The Congress and the National Conference had severely opposed it saying it will benefit the separatists.
