**JOB POST** Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians 1418 20th Street Suite 200 Sacramento CA 95811 Telephone: (916) 491-0011 Fax: (916) 491-0012 ________________________________________ JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Position Title: Environmental Technician Salary: Based on Experience Department: Environmental Resources Department Supervisor: Environmental Resource Director Location: Sacramento, CA Closing Date: August 22, 2014 ________________________________________ POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a full time position within the Environmental Resources Department of the Buena Vista Rancheria, under the general direction of the Environmental Resources Director. The Environmental Technician works closely with the Environmental Director to undertake analysis and implementation of development, environmental impact, and activities related to natural resources and cultural resources on Tribal lands. ________________________________________ DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Implementing environmental projects relating to water and other natural resource programs as well as cultural resource programs on the Rancheria • Planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Tribal water programs • Actively seeking funding for the continued growth of the Tribal water program • Developing the Tribal Non-point Source Assessment and Management Plan • Assisting in Tribal community outreach efforts • Developing grant reports and close out documents • Depending on experience and training, water quality sampling, maintaining databases, draft report writing, and participating in working groups • Undertaking any other duties assigned or required for any other functions of the Environmental Resources Department DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience working with tribal governments and Native communities • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Willingness and ability to perform field duties • Ability to work positively with the Tribal community and co-workers in a conscientious and professional manner • Experience with GIS and GPS mapping • Ability to operate standard computer software applications required of the position • Knowledge of EPA programs and ability to write clear, concise, and complete reports • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements • Ability to work independently and effectively handle multiple assignments simultaneously. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental studies, geology, natural resources or related biological Sciences is desired. A minimum of four years combined of education and/or experience that provides the skills necessary to effectively perform the duties of the position is required. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The possession of a State of California Class “C” Driver license is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: This position primarily requires working in an office environment and occasionally requires working in the field in an outdoor environment, subject to the elements. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting are all to be expected in the performance of this job. Travel will also be required for training, meetings, conferences and tribal community events.
