#JUSTICESERVED! In front of the packed courtroom today, the parents of slain 19-year-old Renisha McBride, shot on a Dearborn Heights porch last year, listened as a jury issued its verdict against the man who killed her. Guilty of second-degree murder. Guilty of manslaughter. Guilty of felony firearm. Theodore Wafer fatally shot McBride on the porch of his home at about 4:30 a.m. Nov. 2. The defense argued his actions were in self-defense, saying he was scared after hearing banging on his side and front doors. The prosecution argued that Wafer went to his front door with a loaded shotgun and fatally shot McBride through a locked screen door. Wafer, 55, who was remanded, faces up to life in prison. He will be sentenced Aug. 25, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. McBride’s parents said justice was served. “I wanted justice,” Monica McBride, Renisha’s mother, said after the verdict. “You know, looking at him to know that justice needs to be served. You did cold-blood murder. That was murder. That was no accident. That was not self-defense. He did murder.” freep/article/20140807/NEWS02/308070170/Renisha-McBride-s-parents-applaud-Wafer-conviction-Justice-was-served-
