~Jennifer here~ As Matisse leaves for her forever home, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to her recovery. She was just a yearling at the doggers and was heading to slaughter because of a severe eye injury. The doggers do not sell horses who have injuries, as they are never guaranteed that the buyer will actually get Vet help to the horse, and they do not want to be responsible for enduring a horses suffering. Matisse had a very painful eye injury and was sold to Save A Horse Australia as they knew we would get immediate help. Matisse was transferred to Manly Road Vets, under the care of Eye Specialist Dr Pauline Gavin. We made the decision to save the eye instead of removing it, even though it was a very costly exercise, but she has the whole rest of her life to live and we wanted to restore her vision and let her lead a normal life. The cost was many thousands of dollars, but look at her now !! A beautiful young life starting the next stage of her journey. Good luck to her new owners, I hope they know what a special young mare they have. Thank you so much to you all for making this possible. We will never forget you Matisse.
