(Joh 1:18) No man hath seen God at any time; [the only begotten - TopicsExpress

(Joh 1:18) No man hath seen God at any time; [the only begotten Son], which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Claim/Answer: There is a few untrustworthy MS that apply the word God after Begotten to read “ the only begotten God” The majority and more trusted MS and codex have Son instead. This is a problem because God is unbegotten. Begotten comes from the Greek monogenēs which means only born child, Mono meaning only and genes from ginomai which means to brought forth or created. To fix this problem Trinitarians have changed the word monogenēs to simply mono removing the Genes or genesis from the word. This would then read “Only God” rather than “only begotten God.” The truth is the presence of the word monogenēs unchanged eliminates the possibility of the word God being used after it, if it is referring to Almighty God who is unbegotten. If Jesus was the only begotten God then that would have to include the Father as well since there is only one God. They not only changed the word Son to God they also to make it work had to change only begotten to just only or unique. Nowhere is the word monogenēs used for anything other than only born child. (Act 13:33) God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Yehoshua was the first begotten child at his resurrection which throughout the new Testament is referred to as being birthed. NO one else has been resurrected into eternal life to become a literal Child of God.
