In any deep stretch it can be difficult to keep the muscles engaged at the point of attachment. This pose is no exception. The low back and the hamstring attachments are at risk. Keep the belly engaged adding safety to the back and make sure the fold is happening at the hip crease rather than the low back. Protect the hamstring attachments through muscular engagement. This is done by flexing the muscles of the leg including the gluteus maximus. This #AcroYoga sequence that includes a nice deep and yes a little bit scary forward fold is a called #ReverseSecretary. This is my friend and best friends wife Marci Hartvigsen showing how it is done. She said that I had to disclose that this is the first time she has ever done AcroYoga and this sequence in order to put this out publicly.
