#KALIBOATIATIHAN2015 EVENT TODAY, Jan 15 Aklan Festivals Parade, Higante contest Eleven municipalities in Aklan will be showcasing their respective festivals at the slated Aklan Festivals Parade and Higante Contest 2015 on January 15 around the main streets of Kalibo. The conduct of the Aklan Festivals Parade and Higante Contest is the provincial government’s way of complementing the famed Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival with the theme “Ati in the Locality”. The Aklan Festivals will have a street-dancing competition and ground presentations with corresponding cash prizes. In the Higante Contest, the respective municipal festivals will create their giant figures or “higante” as a replica of their own local Ati tribe. There will be 11 municipalities participating in the Aklan Festivals Parade and 8 municipalities with “Higante” contest entries. For the Aklan Festivals Parade, participating municipalities are Kalibo, with its Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival; Balete, “Enchanting Balete” (Pangabuhian Sa Among Banwa”; Banga, with its Saguibin Festival through Tribu Magdadaet; Buruanga, Panagat Festival; Ibajay, Ati-ati Festival (Ninos Inocentes Celebration); Lezo, Bayangan Festival; Madalag, Tinuom ni Aewag; Malay, Fiesta de Obreros; Tangalan, Bugna it Tangalan and Numancia with yet an unnamed festival. Towns with Higante contest entries are Balete, with “Manughaboe”; Ibajay, Kalibo, Madalag, with “Maniwangtiwang”; Malinao, Nabas, with “Bariw Ati”; Numancia and Tangalan. For winners in the Higante Contest, first prize will get P40,000.00; 2nd, P35,000.00; 3rd prize, P30,000.00; 4th prize, P25,000.00; and 5th Prize, P20,000.00. There will be consolation prizes of P10,000.00 each while each municipality will have P20,000.00 subsidy. For the Aklan Festivals winners, first prize will get P10,000.00; 2nd, P7,000.00 and 3rd, P5,000.00. There will be a consolation prize of P2,500.00 while each municipality will get P15,000.00 subsidy. Winners in the Aklan Festivals will also get P15,000.00 for first prize; P10,000.00 for 2nd prize and P7,000.00 for 3rd prize. #todoBANTAYatiatihan2015
