‘KU an exhibition of Indian occupation’ Published: Sat, 29 June 2013 10:59 PM University of Kashmir is being increasingly turned into a hub of Indian occupational schemes and experiments, courtesy a politically nominated VC, who is hell bent on fulfilling his political duties by giving space to Indian and pro-occupation Kashmiri politicians rather than focusing on delivering quality education. Indians from across the spectrum of occupational apparatus - politicians and bureaucrats to academicians- visit the campus to propagate and strengthen Indianism in the varsity. Rahul Gandhi invades the campus with active support of administration and lectures youth about forgetting past and moving ahead with a ‘progressive’ India. Apologists of Indian occupation also come to KU via a subtle invasion, again facilitated by administration, and ostensibly bash their own nation only to gain a position among the youth. And then mockingly end up asking us to again explain to them what Kashmiri nation has said repeatedly over the last 65 years -freedom from Indian occupation. Efforts of tacit integration with India follow in the garb of reconciliation. This façade has become an annual occurring since 2010. KU has been turned into an exhibition of Indian occupation by the vile and irresponsible administration, which has spared no effort in destroying the academic atmosphere of the varsity through its pro-occupation stunts. KUSU categorically rejects and opposes the theatrics of Indian occupation in the varsity by Indian politicians, apologists and anyone and everyone singing the Indian tune in the least bit. The students of University of Kashmir will oppose every such visit of any Indian as well as a Kashmiri to the varsity who is even remotely associated with Indian occupational machinery in any respect. Occupation appeasing measures of university administration such as inviting IG J&K Police or Akbar Lone - students were fortunately spared from his linguistic enthrallment as he did not turn as speaker at a recent function - and now the visit of Indian minister Salman Khurshid on 29 June, speaks volumes about the scheme of things in varsity. Kashmiris are better off without the hypocritical and deceitful empathies of Indians wishing to integrate Kashmir with India by means possible. KU is the highest seat of learning in Kashmir and students will not allow it to fall prey to Indian occupational politics and meek surrender of house-Negros part of university administration. - Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU)
