#KakamegaCounty sets aside Sh100m to buy milk for #newborns. In the estimates approved on Thursday by the #CountyAssembly, Sh618 million will be used to improve #healthcareservices in the region. Another Sh411 million has been set aside for #rehabilitation of the #KakamegaProvincialHospital. Governor #WycliffeOparanya said all #poormothers with newborns will receive Sh2,000 to buy milk for six months. Health executive Elsie Muhanda said only needy mothers will benefit from the allocation. “The Governor promised during his campaigns to ensure newborns from poor families are supplied with milk for six months. We shall be rolling out the programme in health institutions,” Ms Muhanda said. She outlined plans to upgrade the provincial hospital to a referral facility and improve services at 12 other health centres. Sh100 million will be used to buy ICU equipment, she added.
