(LOVE AT FIRST DANCE) Two not-so-young-anymore ladies were renewing their friendship over huge servings of lomi at my favorite panciteria. Oblivious to their surrounding, the ladies soon started reminiscing how they met, and eventually got hitched, to their respective love-a-dudes. After finishing off my own bowl of goto, I burped twice (just loud enough) like the good ogre that I am and was soon on my way home after doing the days pamalengke. The encounter with the two ladies got me thinking: theres an infinite number of ways two people eventually become one! (Had to stop thinking though... baka masagasaan ako ng kariton e wala siguradong insurance yung drayber nun, hehe..) Take this lady friend of mine for example... Just when she was getting interested with a fellow reviewee in Manila, she got invited to blind date the friend of her cousins boyfriend.. Kaya pala ako isinama eh para me kapartner yung kaibigan ng BF ng pinsan ko, kwento niya. I believe she said it was a date at Rosemart Disco, where many a love story of the 80s in that part of the planet was written (and as many love-story ended too, heheh). Anyway, Mr. Reviewee became less interesting after that. The pogi points deducted from Mr. Reviewee, were of course, added to the love factor meter of Mr. D.P., as in Disco Papa. Papa na siya talaga ngayon ng kanilang mga anak! Then theres this other lady friend who got her first thump-thump of the heart when she danced --for the first time- a sweet number with the young man whos been making ligaw tingin-bulong sa hangin. She and he hit it off, and became a special pair before the love song ended. The song was Looking Through the Eyes of Love, a truly memorable song from a huge hit-of-a-movie of that era, Ice Castles. For them, it was a case of love at first dance. Lucky for my friend and her man, it was a slow drag! I know several couples from that time in History Channel whose first dance together is My Sharona or Disco Inferno! How can a Romeo, even the most persistent one, Discovery Channel his Juliet habang yumuyugyog ang buong katawan? Pati nga ulo na para bang gusto ng mag-partner na magkapalit sila ng balakubak, hehehe! A real case of HBO -- H-ulog B-alakubak, O-o! Our third case is that of a male friend, who got hitched late in life. His relatives thought hell never tie the knot, but nagpabitay naman siya before he turned golden boy. He married his childhood sweetheart whom he lost when he became a college scholar, got so engrossed in finishing his course, and went abroad for more studies. In the meantime, Childhood Sweet got married, became a widow. Re-married abroad twice, and divorced twice. The next lover turned out to be sadistic bastard, and she naturally dumped him good. The one that came next wanted her, but not her kids from her first marriage, so he was out too. She has had enough, she thought, and was bent on enjoying single-blessedness when she fainted on her way to work, and fell hard on the sidewalk of a busy London street. A kababayan rushed to her aid. When she opened her eyes she was in the hospital. Her Doctor was Mr. Childhood Sweet.. still single, never been married, very available, and still So Much In Love With You, I mean her. Heck, no, Mang Juan, I did not inquire if the good doctor was still a virgin when they got married a short time later! The thing is, totoo nga na pagkahaba-haba man daw ng prosesyon, virginal beauty man ang groom, sa simbahan pa rin ang tuloy! These are but three how did they stories of so many more that I know of. How about you my FB friends? How did you meet your love-of-your life? Im sure kahit paano man kayo nagkakilala, full of Star(movies) ang bawat gabi after that! :D
