(Last para is imp as duration is reduced, main route is closed) Shree Amarnath Yatra: The Amarnath cave has been a place of worship since times immemorial. The Yatra is organised by the J&K State Government in collaboration with the Shree Amarnath Yatra trust. Duration; Previously it was much more, now it is reduced to only 45 days (June 28 ~ August 10). Registration is compulsory. Route : 1) Main route, gradual 45 km, is Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Mahagun, Panchtarni... 2) Baltal 16 Km, very steep gradient and is quite difficult to climb. It starts from Baltal and passes through Domial, Barari, and Sangam to reach the cave. Security: Provided by the state. Facilities: Provided by the state and NGOs, Voluntary organisations. Expectations: The duration should be as was originally allowed for centuries. All routes should be open and help of volunteers may be taken to clear and maintain the route. Heptr should not enter in 2 Km radius as it affects Yatra. Efficient and effective officials and trust members may be associated to maintain the Yatra as decades back. Hope they dont ask Yatris next year to go only by heptr. And fulfill their responsibility with the devotion it requires. There is no point sitting in chair of authority without output)
