“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe - TopicsExpress

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14:1 “So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.’” Acts 16:31 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 How do you believe in God? Is it with a complete confidence or with a casual acceptance or possibly not at all? If you do believe in God, what is the strength and importance of that belief? Has your belief in God led you to Jesus? Is your belief like knowing that the sky is blue, accepting without paying attention? Some people say they believe in God and Jesus but that belief has no effect on their lives. Some people postpone acknowledging that belief, refusing to change the way they live. There is a reason why the bible says that we are to believe and be saved. Yet, the belief that is spoken of is not a casual acknowledgement, it is a belief that sinks down into your heart and alters the course of your life. The belief that saves a soul is full of conviction and desperate to grab hold of the cross. The belief that is required to claim your Savior is a belief that leads you to submission. It is the depth of belief that will determine your faith. It is the importance that you place upon your soul that will determine where you will go. Casual faith is never rewarded. It is the faith of a true believer that will have that person seeking to eliminate sin from their lives and seeking to become righteous. In order to claim a pure heart you must actively make the effort to be free of the evil that lies within your heart. We all have evil inside of us, it is what makes us sinners from the start. It is our evil nature that demands a Savior which God provided for us in Christ. We cannot claim to believe and go on sinning with impunity. We are never to ignore our natures because when we do we are left wallowing in our own filth. It is our belief in the truth of the gospel that leads us away from our sinful natures and creates in us Christ-like natures in its place. The Holy Spirit will come to us and help us to overcome ourselves. But we must believe with all of our hearts that it is possible. We must commit with all of our hearts our loyalty to the Son and the Father. Without the genuine belief of salvation and the genuine belief of mercy and compassion we will never find in ourselves the gratefulness to respond to the call. We must first know our need for Jesus and trust that God will keep His word. It is not easy in today’s society to find the courage to believe strongly enough to respond. Satan and his minions are working against you to diminish the truth of the gospel. It is up to you to make the choice to believe and receive your salvation. It does not come with a casual acceptance, it comes with a conviction that penetrates deep into your soul. Know that with a belief that is strong you will see through the temporary glitter of this world and re-prioritize your life and get right with God and Jesus Christ. “And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:30-31 Love That Cross, Pastor John Collins
