“Love is my Religion” Ziggy Marley If there is one topic I love to write about it is Love! As Rumi says so passionately “I am in Love with Love and Love is in Love with me.” Love takes us beyond the ephemeral, to a mysticism that reminds us, from where we came. Even if we disregard the Spirit, and of course why would we? Physical Life itself is launched through union. The metaphor is there from the start. Love is what inspires life. Love is the elemental faculty of bliss. Love is the river that takes us past our perceived limits. It resides far beyond the confines of our mind. We come fully loaded with all the love of the universe and land feet first into a world of separation. As I like to say “That God, what a kidder?” It can be argued “What if I am alone, what if I am suffering, feel anger, resentment, what if…?” the endless mental reasons not to love, though this is a love that is of the mind; The mind within the body, the body that perceives itself as separate. Separation is not union, Union is Love. So we go on debating reasons and continue feeling more and more separated, until we are at war; War with ourselves and war with the world. This is also clearly demonstrated on our planet. It only serves the purpose to realize we are looking at The Lock, to find The Key. Rumi guides us once again with the tale of transformation from the sorrows of our thoughts, through our body into our heart, when at last we blast through the other side of our separation (our one great fear), into belonging. He writes “The harvest of my pain was its own peace and remedy. As low as I had sunk, I rose, faith restored from blasphemy. Body, heart, and soul obscured the path, until Body melted into heart, heart in soul, and soul in love itself.” Love need not be “In love” with another person, though there are plenty of them on the planet to love. It can be a love of life, of nature, of growth, of breath and so on. One of my own personal mantras is “Just Love.” simple and short. We get trapped into the doing of love. Let me just put it right out there. Love is not a doing! It is Being. I know that can be difficult to grasp when the world requires so much doing. But Love does not. In fact it requires no-thing. Begin with deep within your own nature; resign your self to love. Feel the openness of non-resistance, soften your body, soften your thoughts, and ask for your own energetic love to be present in your mind, in your work, in your day, incorporate. Just Love… Try this for an hour, an afternoon, an evening. Love yourself with gentle reminders, with laughter, or with tears, but let love be the intention of your mind. Make it an experiment. Love is presence, so stay with yourself, don’t abandon yourself for love. Remember it is a way, not an action. And in this way will we find release from the separating thoughts of our physical perception. Have a loving day! Peace, Compassion, Wisdom ~M~
