#LoveGodGreatly Study of Esther Day 1: King Xerxes was proud of his wealth. He displayed the things he had obtained and his glory for 180 days. I am by no means a wealthy person, but I see my heart do the same thing with what I have. I want to show off things I have gotten or show off myself to others. My heart is just the same as his. But Jesus points us in a different direction. He points us to heaven. Everything we have here will pass away. There are only two things we have on Earth that will be in heaven-the word of God and the souls of men. Live for those things. Those things will never be taken away, they will never be destroyed by moth or rust, thieves can never break in and steal that. We are to live for eternity. What can you do today to invest in the things that are eternal? Maybe it’s to spend extra time reading God’s word or memorizing it, maybe it’s to reach out to someone who is hurting and be a source of comfort, maybe it’s to walk across the street and build a relationship with your unbelieving neighbor and share the gospel with them. Whatever it is, live for the eternal-it far outweighs the things here on earth.
