(M) It really drives me crazy when people say they dont vote because both parties are exactly the same. That statement is ignorant on so many levels, but this is what bugs me the most about it. People arent just going to the polls to elect politicians. There are ballot initiatives and measures that have a much more direct impact on people, on a local level, that people are willingly not taking part in deciding on. Do you want to choose how your local tax dollars are spent? Do you want to choose who makes those decisions, on a local level, when theyre not voted on? Do you care about local issues? Then you NEED to vote. It makes absolutely no sense to let other people dictate decisions that have a direct impact on your daily lives. Even if you dont want to vote for politicians who work in DC you should still get to the polls and participate in the election process. When you refuse to vote youre essentially saying that you trust other people to make those decisions for you.
