#MANGUESCH Just for info :- ****************** The First Indian Lady To Act in a film / movie ... दुर्गाबाई कामत / Durgabai Kamat (1899 – May 17, 1997) was a Saraswat actress, who was the first female actress of Indian cinema, In the early 1900s, acting in film or theatre was a TABOO for women, so much so, दादासाहेब फाळके / Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, had to hire male actors for female roles in the first Indian film,राजा हरिश्चन्द्र /` Raja Harishchandra `; however with its success, female actress were encouraged, thus he introduced दुर्गाबाई कामत / Durgabai Kamat in his 1913 second movie मोहिनी भस्मासूर / Mohini Bhasmasur ` as a leading lady पार्वती / Parvati, while her daughter कमलाबाई गोखले / Kamlabai Gokhale (born कमलाबाई कामत / Kamlabai Kamat), played the role of मोहिनी /Mohini, thus becoming the first female child actress of Indian cinema. After Kamat other actresses started working in cinema. Durgabai was also the maternal grandmother of veteran Marathi actor चंद्रकांत गोखले / Chandrakant Gokhale, and the great-grandmother of actors विक्रम गोखले / Vikram Gokhale and मोहन गोखले / Mohan Gokhale. She died on May 17, 1997, in Pune, Maharashtra, at the ripe age of 97
