*******MARTIME NEWS FLASH******* N95 Jonas 2 (Fishing Vessel) Multi purpose catamaran gutted by fire Just before 9:00 am the skipper of the Jonas II, preparing to sail with his crew, saw flames aboard. The fire brigade teams of Middelkerke and Oostduinkerke rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire. Foam was used to extinguish the conflagration as water would increase the risk of sinking. The towering fire was difficult to control as there were a lot of flammable substances present and the boat consists largely of polyester. Only after an hour of battling it was the fire was extinguished. The catamaran is completely burnt but remained above water. The wreck of the N-95 has been towed to the Flemish Association for Water, where experts will attempt to find the cause.
