SLICES OF LIFE: MEASURING LIFE PART 8: 29th June 2013 Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. On the occasion of her 60th year of reign, Jaeger LeCoultre’s presented a gift to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A one off version of the company’s iconic 101 jeweller watch. Interestingly, the price of this watch is priceless. Time is priceless, once it is gone, it cannot be regained. Expensive watches or time pieces sometimes makes a statement about the owner’s social class and social standing but not about how the owner values or spend time. Priceless! Time is the currency of life, you can choose to spend, squander or invest it. Time is life and life is time. It is a resource that we all have, no one has more of it than the other, yet some feel they don’t have enough as they become overwhelmed with tasks and deadlines. We all have twenty-four hours each day to do whatever we want to do and to become whatever we want to be. Whatever or wherever you are today in your journey of life, is as a result of how you have used your time, thoughts and choices in the past and where you will be tomorrow is as a result of what you are doing now. The value you place on your time is a great predictor of your ability to succeed, if you don’t value time, success may be a mirage, because success comes in the vehicle of time. When we squander time, we are inviting time to haunt us later, because if we don’t make time work for us, it will work against us. By squandering time, one is actually creating evil days and seasons and gradually one is drawn into the precipice where time is no longer a servant but a master. Time has a way of slipping away unnoticed, that is why it has to be monitored. How we spend our time is closely linked to our habits and if we can tweak it, we will begin to see dramatic improvements in our lives. (1)Take a step back and watch how you spend your time. (2) Identify the time wasters. It could be too much TV, Social networks or even people. (3) Swap time wasters for time boosters. Invest your time in activities that will translate to more free time later.(4) Prioritize! Always ask yourself, is this the most important thing I should be doing right now? If the answer is NO. Drop it and move on to what you consider as being important.(5) Watch the things you put off, procrastination has a way of creeping in and can cost more time later. A stitch in time saves nine.(6) Are you a morning person or do you feel most productive at night? Then move those activities that demand more of your mental resource to the time when you are hyper-productive. Say with me: I use my time in the most productive way, time is working for me not against me. I create a better future with my time.
