~ MEMBERS READ ~ MEMBERS READ ~ MEMBERS READ ~ ENGLISH/CREATIVE WRITING REFRESHER COURSE BEGINS MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2015!!!!!!!! ___________________ ENGLISH/CREATIVE WRITING REFRESHER COURSE Hello Members, it’s me and Deborah Brooks Langford, owners of the Poetry Corner Site here. Deb and I came up with a great idea we thought everyone might enjoy. Beginning Monday, January 5, 2015, I, Susan Joyner-Stumpf, will start an English and Creative Writing Refresher Course right here on the Poet Corner Page. Safiya will be helping out. Who doesn’t want to improve their grammar, spelling, and creative writing techniques to put the best poem out there? Each Monday Safiya and I will have a new tip and challenge for you guys to apply to a poem using the tip we give you. This is NOT mandatory…you do NOT have to participate, it’s only for those who care and/or want to improve their skills as a writer and post the best poem they can. How many poems have you read and actually liked but can’t get through it because of all the errors, and the wrong tense, and grammar issues? We ALL NEED to improve so let’s help one another. Why are Safiya and I handling this? Well, let’s see. . . I am an English Major, I took Advanced English, Literature and Creative Writing Classes all throughout school and college. I was Assistant Editor of my High School News Letter and High School Magazine for Grace King High School back in my hometown of New Orleans. I’m working on my 16th published book. I think I have a little experience behind me . . . but of course, by these challenges, it will also refresh me because we ALL can stand for improvement. We’re not pointing fingers at ANYONE here. I myself want to put a poem out there that I can be proud of. Let’s take pride in our work and what we submit out there to the world to read. Safiya is also a Published Author and has been a Foreign Language Teacher and has had to be even more proficient in the English Language than the English Teachers in order to teach her students. Teaching is Safiyas forte and she also did Latin in school and as you know, a lot of our words have their base in Latin. So Safiya is multi-lingual. You In? After the holidays are over, we will begin our Refresher Course, let’s call it. Let’s put the best poems out there that we can so that our readers can flow through the poem and concentrate on the beauty and merit of our piece instead of being disrupted by a poem or prose chock full of errors and grammar issues and other creative methods that can be improved through various techniques and writing skills. See Ya then!!!! -------------- Deborah Brooks Langford Safiya BakshHosein
