#MOFFia, I was flipping between the five channels I have thanks - TopicsExpress

#MOFFia, I was flipping between the five channels I have thanks to a digital antenna earlier and stumbled upon TMZ. The only thing that had me pause was a comment I heard. Someone had called in and was remarking on the sad state of affairs on tv right now and how cruel a lot of the shows are. They cut away from her and the newsroom went rampant. Instead of agreeing, they got defensive and started saying things like, Well that is what the public likes. and so on. I agree, what gets ratings get time. But, damn...just cause people want it doesnt mean its good for them or society as a whole. Im not asking for control over the airwaves. Im not saying I want my words to be stifled any more than another. I understand free will, which is why I dont watch tv and am not familiar with any of the current shows. This just shows that money is valued above all else. The networks go where the profits are so they can remain in existence. And I started thinking about social media. Scroll through your newsfeed. What percentage is uplifting? What percentage is gossip? What percentage is complaining about work? What percentage only posts when socially appropriate things are going on? The things that get traction arent always what we want to see. They can be negative or sell us something that big brother thinks we want. Media is great, but its also contrived. Its motive isnt in your best interest. It isnt fueled by love, its fueled by greed and fear. Remember that as you move into this weekend. Spend time in real life, outdoors, with friends and family, read a book (a real book-not on a device), do some soul searching, write a poem, do a little drawing or painting. I share all of this to say that our goals in life are important. To move forward. To chase dreams. To fulfill our purpose. But as we move along the goal line. There is another line we are working on as well. Maybe you are aware of it. Its called the learning line. Its spiritual growth. No I am not talking about religion or Christianity specifically. I am talking about rising in our consciousness. I am talking about listening to our self-destructive ways. I am talking about shedding those words and behaviors and time spent on things to fuel our ego. I am talking about awakening. I am talking about light shining from your eyes. Some may say I am naive or an idealist or a voodoo hippie. Id rather have any of those labels than be seen as a cynic, a pessimist, a fundamentalist, living from lower emotions of fear and selfishness. Wont you join this voodoo hippie? ;) xo, Jen Moff
