****** MORE RAIN ON THE WAY FOR VICTORIA, SOUTHERN AND EASTERN SOUTH AUSTRALIA, INLAND NSW AND TASMANIA ****** It looks like more rain is on the way with some areas set to see even bigger falls amount if you count the rain from Thursday onwards and other areas that have not see much should get some decent falls over the coming days. Over the past week a monsoon low has injected loads of moisture across northern WA, central OZ, northern and eastern South Australia, western NSW and northern and eastern Victoria with all of these areas receiving at least 20mm with spot falls around 100mm in north eastern Victoria, over 100mm in parts of eastern South Australia, close to 150mm in far western NSW & 200mm+ in central Australia as a surface trough moved into NSW and produced some handy totals the past 24 hours. Lighter rain has persisted today across eastern NSW with some moderate falls which is contracting north east and through inland parts of Australia today however a surface trough is set to deepen along the NSW and SA border the next 12-24 hours as a surface low will develop just west of Adelaide by tomorrow evening and is set to move towards south western Victoria by Tuesday morning. This will mean all this moisture will be lifted into this trough and low so rain and some thunderstorm activity will develop across southern and eastern parts of South Australia tomorrow and pushing into far south western NSW and western Victoria by tomorrow evening. Tasmania, most of NSW away from the north east, Victoria will see a solid rain band with isolated thunderstorms push through, moderate to heavy falls are likely especially about north of Tasmania and ranges and western parts of Victoria and western NSW and southern and central tablelands. Winds will also whip up and become strong to locally gale force about southern Victoria and Tasmania overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning as the low deepens and moves east of Tasmania by Wednesday morning, It will continue to track south eastwards with winds and showers easing later in the day in these areas. A trough will extend from the low and move further east and north east into north east NSW and south east Queensland on Wednesday introducing patchy rain, showers and few thunderstorms. ***** RAINFALL PROSPECTS ***** SOUTH AUSTRALIA 10 to 30mm through southern and eastern areas with isolated heavier falls nearing 50mm about the north east Pastoral and parts of the south eastern district. Adelaide set to see 20 to 30mm with isolated heavier falls up to 50mm especially in storms and also about the Adelaide hills. VICTORIA 20 to 50mm across western, north western, central and north east especially about the ranges, isolated heavier falls is possible across the western and central ranges. 10 to 30mm across Gippsland. Melbourne should see a reasonable drop between 20 and 40mm. Watch for winds to become strong late Tuesday night into early Wednesday. NEW SOUTH WALES Best of the falls will be on and west of the ranges with 20 to 40mm expected, 5 to 20mm elsewhere. Sydney should see lesser falls away from storm activity 5 to 10mm generally while the ACT region should see 15 to 30mm. TASMANIA State wide falls of 20 to 50mm with the heaviest of the falls expected to be about the north and east as the low moves through Bass straight. Strong to gale force s to south west winds will also hit Wednesday morning before easing at night. Hobart should see 25 to 50mm during this period. SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND 10 to 25mm with isolated heavier falls about the ranges and in any storms that develop. Brisbane 5 to 20mm but higher falls with any thunderstorms that develop.
