U.S. President Woodrow Wilson believed it was (North) America`s inalienable duty to make the world "safe for democracy". Bushwhacker "hegemonic isolationism" stressed protective paternalism and patriotism, ignoring the silent majority of naysayers unwilling to share callow transformational views, obsessivelyespoused by Cheney, Rumsfeld and Karl Rove, to make others more like US. In actuality, autonomy is the condition of responsibility promoting the balance of respectful mutual interdependence. The U.S. should not be the only "indispensable superpower" that knows best what the real interest of dependent others are. In the long run, security cannot be purchased at the price of fair-minded liberty and justice. Protecting wronged human rights must guard against widespread abusive violations and torture of "enemy combatants" at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo and harsh restrictions on foreigners eager to come to the chancy Land of Opportunities. Myopic refusal to accept the International Criminal Court, the Kyoto Protocol and arms control generally has diminished American-can prestige and credibility. Necessary changes in our rapidly shifting, interconnected I.T. reconfigured network require commitment to a long-term policy of non-aggressive demilitarization along with nuclear arsenal proliferation protocols. Passivity or complicity in the Middle East by the Quartet partners must instead now work hard to pursue a workable 2-state solution close to the one almost reached at Taba in 2001. The U.S. has lost public deflation influence with the global financial meltdown, moving from creditor to debtor nation with massive deficits replacing budget surpluses. China now holds about one-quarter of the "In Gold Wet Rust" treasury owned by foreigners. America`s soiled primacy has eroded due to the global shift from the Wild West US vs. THEM unilateralism, recognizing China`s ascendance and the rising star rest – India, Brazil, Turkey, South Africa and Russia as strategic partners in accomplishing a progressive blueprint for implementation by future generations, occurring peacefully, productively and patiently.
