“Maybe it’s time to re-write the Bible” After all, it’s - TopicsExpress

“Maybe it’s time to re-write the Bible” After all, it’s been almost 2000 years since the canon was completed and we’ve learned so much since then. I mean, based on the History Chanel we know that books were “omitted” from the Bible. This implies that they were or should have been in there because surely there should not have been some kind of criteria for something to be put in the Bible. Besides, we have discovered that so many of the sins that are mentioned in the Bible are not really sins. It’s obvious that people are born with desires that they cannot be expected to control or be held responsible for. Also, who is to say which act is a sin and which isn’t? We also know that the archeological record and the Bible don’t always match. It is so obvious because all we have to do is go into our backyards, dig a hole, pick up the fossil, and confirm what we already knew. Fossils are everywhere. Who could believe that we were created? It’s obvious we came from slime – we have the fossil record to prove it. We have the capacity to explain away everything the Bible claims. We’ve seen into the next plane of existence. We have the technology to do that. We’ve sent our scientist and philosophers and confirmed that Jesus Christ is not God and is not the only way to the afterlife. All religions are equally valid. We have already explained away or disproved every seeming miraculous thing Jesus did because we know it is not humanly possible and if we can’t explain it to our satisfaction, it didn’t happen. It’s “scientifically” impossible. We just need the academics to explain everything to us so we can understand it. Jesus was a good teacher but he is not the only way to God. We need a Bible that promises us that all God wants for us is to have a comfortable, prosperous life that is never faced with trials or never challenges us. It needs to wink at “so called” sin and all of the blood needs to be removed. I mean really, God would never hold us accountable for our actions. This thing about Jesus’ death as a sacrifice for us is beyond contempt. We know all we have to do is be a good person and everything will be fine. Besides, almost everybody is basically good. Yep, we need a new Bible that communicates what we have come to know over the past few hundred years. I mean really, the only thing that is absolute is there are no absolutes. We can prove this. We have the ability to do test and prove it. Some of the best minds in human history have proven it – by saying so. We just need to live and let live and everything will work out the way it is supposed to. Yep, a new Bible, that’s the answer. But, what if we are wrong?
