★ Meditation on a transcendental platform My dear people, there are many forms of meditation all of which are renowned for its extraordinary power. When you practice meditation through transcendental sound, you elevate your mind to a higher level. Let us begin by understanding what transcendental platform is. To understand this we must first know that we operate on various statuses of conditioned life. Most of us are living on the bodily conception of life. This means we relate to the word ‘I’ with our body. While some may think “I’m American”, somebody else may be thinking “I’m Indian”. This method of relating oneself to just the body is called the bodily conception of life. People residing in the bodily concept crave things that they do not possess and lament over things that they have lost. To be able to connect with the universe by connecting with our soul, we should first move out of this notion. From the bodily concept one has to transcend to the spiritual platform. This is the most effective and genuine process of self-realization. The highlight of this form of meditation is that it can be practiced anywhere, anytime. Between the body and the spiritual realm there are 2 hidden layers that need to be crossed to reach the ultimate destination. Almost all the people in the universe reside in the first layer; the body. Some are a notch above them; they are the ones who think they are the mind. Then come those who think on an intellectual level. These people dwell on the platform of Buddhi. Only less than a small percentage of the population has transcended the intellectual platform too and entered the spiritual platform. To practice this form of meditation, one should first reach the transcendental platform; the realm where the individual thinks “Aham brahmāsmi”, which means ‘I am not the body or the mind or the intelligence; I am the soul.’ So how will an individual know when he reaches the transcendental state? Mere announcement by words like “I have realized the state of transcendence” does not equal to truly achieving the state. One has to look for the signs. And that sign is of perpetual joy. When a person is always joyful without any trace of remorse, it means he has reached the transcendental platform. In this there is no craving or lamenting. It is a state of bliss! However, with the responsibilities of a Grihastya, it is not only difficult but also not mandatory to reach this state. As long as you are able to elevate yourself from the bodily concept to the depths of your mind, though meditation, you will have accomplished what many people cannot. In this sphere both your family and spiritual life work together to give you a happy and stress-free life. In Spiritual Service, Brahma Kumaris ♥
