#MorningDevotion FROZEN! Michelangelo is credited with creating 44 statues in his lifetime but only 14 of them were done to completion. Many of us are familiar with the 14 he finished – David, Moses, the Pieta….to mention but a few. It is the works that he never finished that are quite interesting. There is one of a human elbow or the beginning of a wrist. The rest of the human form is locked up in the marble. Another shows the leg with the thigh, knee, calf, heel and foot clearly chiselled but the rest of the body is still locked within the rock. Yet another shows the head and shoulders of a man but the rest of the body is still frozen inside the stone. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Many times we fail to understand what God deposited in us when he put us together. We look at ourselves and all we see is a boulder, a rock that seems to have no beauty design or purpose. But that is where we make a mistake, because hidden within what seems to be a useless rock lays a masterpiece frozen waiting for the master to chisel it out. We make the same mistake when we look at others and come to conclusions and put them in a box because of what we can see. God is a master craftsman and when we allow Him to take over our life He is able to make us new and create such a master piece of our life that is much more than we can ever think or imagine! The chiselling may be a painful and uncomfortable process and sometime it may be a slow process as well, but this one thing is for sure, once God is done with you, a masterpiece you will be. I am reminded of the young David in the wilderness tending his father sheep; he may have looked useless but frozen within lay a king like Israel had never seen before, or maybe Saul of Tarsus who seemed like an enemy of the church but frozen within lay one of the best evangelist, Apostle and writer the world has ever seen. I don’t know what people see when they look at you, maybe all they see is a hand up to the elbow and the rest is still frozen in the marble. Or they see the head and the shoulders while the rest of the body is still hidden, frozen in the piece of rock. Hang in there, God is still chiselling away and soon people will see the masterpiece that the master’s hand will make of your life. Within you lies great potential that surpasses anything you have ever imagined! Allow God to bring it out!
