· Mr Arun Jaitley must clarify on what he means by people like him don’t need LPG subsidy · FM’s statement is an indication that the BJP govt is planning to withdraw LPG subsidy The Aam Aadmi Party demands that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley should give a clarification on his statement on withdrawal of LPG cylinder subsidy. The Finance Minister has been quoted in the media as saying that “people like him” do not need subsidy and therefore subsidy will be given only to the poor. This indicates that the government is planning to withdraw LPG subsidy and the Finance Minister is trying to justify the move in advance. The Aam Aadmi Party demands that Mr Jaitley should clarify what he meant by “people like him”, because he’s the richest minister in the union cabinet with assets on more than Rs 70 crore. The government must make it clear what will the new income bracket, which will get the subsidy benefit. We warn the government that if the lower middle class is deprived of the benefit, the Aam Aadmi Party will have to take the issue to the streets. While AAP feels that “people like Mr. Jaitley” with assets of more than Rs 70 crore or a monthly income of more than Rs 10 lakh really do not need subsidy and the government should first ensure that their diesel guzzling SUVs do not run on subsidized diesel. bit.ly/1y1mh0M
