*** My FACEBOOK Accounts *** I main 3 (three) FB sites for * Open Social Networking * with three groups of audiences in Assam, my native State in India: Group-1: under the name Rafiqul Awal ------------------------------------------------------- This one, for keeping in touch with ALL Peoples of Assam, especially the following: => Axomiya-speaking Raiz (aka Khar-Khowa) => Axomiya read-write but Bangla-speaking Janata (aka Miya) => Bodo-speaking People (and all other Plains Tribals) => Koch-Rajbanshi (aka Kamatapuria?) => Kamrupiya Raiz (aka Barpetia-Nalbaria?) => All other Peoples in NE region of India (Meghalaya, Mizroram, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal), and => North Bengal (Malda to Koch Bihar). Group-2: under the name, Gedar Baap -------------------------------------------------------- This one for addressing the community I come from: the Bangla-speaking People of Assam (in both Brahmaputra and Barak Valley). Most of these are, => Son-of-the Soil in the Land west of the Last Ahom Kingdom boundary (see Map of 1826), that is, west of River Manas and west of Gauhati (which was the Trading Post between Ahom Kingdom and Mughal Bengal Suba, as of 1826 when the last Ahom Kingdom was capitulated following Anglo-Burmese War); => Son-of-the-Soil in Kachari Rajya, south of Ahom Kingdom (Barak Valley); and => People of East Bengal Origin (PEBO), who were brought into Lower Assam Valley after the Yandabu Treaty (1826): ==> The First Batch of PEBO arrived east of the boundary of the Last Ahom Kingdom as Infantry Soldiers under British Command, marched from Dhaka Garrison, in order to SAVE THE LIVES of the Peoples of Ahom Kingdom, from being obliterated from the face of earth by the barbaric Burmese soldiers, from 1815 to 1826, brought into Ahom Kingdom by the Quarreling Aristocrats of Upper Ahom Kingdom. (Has the Quarrel ceased?! Hmmmmm!) ===> The Second Batch of PEBO arrived as Peasants, brought in by the new British, East India Company Government of Assam. Why? The British needed a Source of Revenue to pay salary and general administrative expenses. The peasants of the Last Ahom Kingdom were killed or fled to Goalpara (west of Manas) during Burmese Invasions. The hard-working PEBO Peasants cleared forests and were allowed to cultivate and live in the Char-Chapori areas only, for political reasons, mand TAXED HEAVILY so they would never rise above Primitive Subsistence Level of Existence and will never rise into a political power (that was good for the British, and good for the remaining Ahom Kingsoms Aristocrats). ??????? HAS the CONDITION of these PEBO Peasants changed after Independence ???? ==> The Third Batch of PEBO peasants were brought to LOWER & CENTRAL ASSAM by the British, Her Majestys Government in India after the devastation of worlds worst Earthquake of 1897 in Assam and Bengal. The trickle increased during the WORLD WAR I (1914-1920) in order to GROW MORE FOOD! Scheme of the Government for war needs. **** My Grandfather and his brothers in Bogra District arrived and settled along Chars east of River Manas in 1924 ***** ==> The Fourth Batch of PEBO peasants were again brought at the start of WORLD WAR II for the war needs, now tripled, under the scheme of GROW MORE FOOD!: triple need of Rice Production for, (1) The US-British troops in Assam and the entire Eastern Theatre; (2) Air-Lift of Rice from Assams air-fields to beleaguered China, over the Himalayan Sky Corridor and overland via newly built Brigadier Stilwell Highway (across Patkai Hills to Laos-->China) (3) Rice for the Royal Indian Army fighting in the European, Middle-East, and North African fronts. Group 3: Most recent, under the name Rafiqul Awal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The objective of this FB site is to create a Platform for the New Age Political Leadership in Assam.
