People, ideas, places, practices, and, of course, the earth in her delirious variety. As Eudora Welty says, my passion is to part a curtain to each other’s presence. I cultivate my curiosity, my willingness to see other’s human plight, because we’ve created a culture where we wander vast tracts of our lives alone, deliberately or indifferently separate, sporting Welty’s “veil.” But curiosity can pierce the veil. Curiosity, gently applied, can invite wonder, connection, even belonging. If this thought is intriguing…then I invite you to gather up your fierce self and get curious. You never know what wonders you might meet.
